Things to Consider

Weight

Our mattresses are of the highest quality and as such, will weigh more than conventional mattresses. We think the quality of sleep you’ll get from your new mattress will by far outweigh the extra weight. If you are concerned about this, please contact us before you purchase your mattress.

Width/Length Restrictions

Because our mattresses are hand made, we work within a measurement tolerance of +/- 2cm. So, if you are concerned about  your mattress fitting between two fixed objects (wardrobes for example), please feel free add details and measurements on the comments section of the template label and we will extra care not to exceed the template dimensions.

Consider Mattress Depths
Generally speaking, the deeper the mattress is, the more comfortable the mattress will be. However this should not be the only consideration. You might want to take into account the height of any bedside shelves as it may look a little odd if you mattress sits materially higher

Odd Shapes
Inspect your existing mattress closely to ensure that your mattress is not specifically shaped to mould around trunking or radiator pipes. If this is the case please follow the instructions in the video on how to template your mattress and include all details in the comments section of the template label

FAQ's About Bespoke Caravan Mattress

How thick are caravan mattresses?

Following extensive research and development, we found that the optimum mattress thickness for touring caravans is around 18cm. We consider this to be thinner and lighter than traditional domestic mattresses without sacrificing comfort.

For those requiring a different depth, our memory foam mattress is slimmer at 14cm deep and we have a 21cm deep variant of our superior Hybrid Nano Pocket Sprung mattress.

What are caravan mattresses made of?

Your Custom Mattress has a range of high-quality mattresses to suit your needs, such as memory foam, Blu Cool, Gravity Gel, Latex, and our latest Hybrid 2000 nano pocket sprung. You can find more details here: Explore Our Mattresses

What is the difference between a caravan mattress and a normal mattress?

Our custom caravan mattresses look the same as domestic mattresses with slight variations. They are designed in such a way that they are thinner and lighter than high-quality domestic mattresses, without any compromise on the level of comfort.

Explore Our Mattresses for more details.

How much is a new caravan mattress?

There’s a lot to be said about the old adage of you get what you pay for. We are sure that if you search online, you will find cheaper mattresses. However, they are likely to be made with low-quality fabrics and inner components that will leave you hot, bothered, and uncomfortable.

Our extensive research and development centred around two key missions – quality and comfort. At Your Custom Mattress, you can be assured that all our mattresses are of the highest quality and provide the ultimate in comfort.

Our prices range from £300 to £959, depending on the size and type of mattress.

What is Talalay Latex?

The Sleep Foundation describes it best. “Latex is a natural material that is manufactured from the sap of rubber trees. It’s used in a variety of manufacturing applications, including modern mattresses. Latex mattresses are prized for their durability, superior cooling, and excellent pressure relief.

..Latex is considered to be more sustainable than alternatives such as memory foam. It is naturally derived from a sustainable source, and it’s more durable than alternatives, offering a lower environmental cost in the long run.”

How heavy are Your Custom Mattresses?

Your Custom Mattresses are packed full of high-quality components and as such are a little heavier than standard (less comfortable) caravan mattresses. Given the many variations of size and shape of mattresses, it is impossible to give you the exact weight difference you will see. However, generally speaking, the weight could be anywhere between 2-8kg heavier. To put that into 2-litre bottles of pop terms, it is between 1 and 4 bottles of pop.

Please note this is for guidance purposes only. If you are worried about the weight difference, please contact us before purchasing your mattress.

How do I template my mattress?

Please refer to our [Help] page for your step-by-step instructions and video tutorial.

What should I look out for when templating my mattress?
  • Follow the step-by-step instructions and video tutorial on our [Help] page.
  • Sometimes the side or end of your mattress is cut to fit around radiators or cabling. Ourshows an example of this and shows you how you should record this on your template.
  • Our mattresses are handmade and we, therefore, need to work within a manufacturing tolerance of 2cm. If your mattress has fixed points side to side and/or lengthways. Please be sure to note the dimensions between the fixed points in the comments box on your template label. We will then take extra care not to exceed these dimensions.
